Research Vault
Research Vault is the cockpit’s structured-record store for research intelligence. Where Vault Notes is freeform markdown, Research Vault stores typed records with comparable fields.
What goes here
Use Research Vault when the thing you’re capturing has structure — a study, an experiment, a competitive analysis, a market scan. Each record gets typed fields rather than freeform text.
Comparison
Records in Research Vault can be compared side-by-side. This is what makes it different from Vault Notes — you can ask “show me all studies tagged #cohort-2026 with sample size > 200” and get a comparison view.
Cross-linking
Research Vault records can cross-link to Vault Notes. A research record’s “methodology” field can point at a Vault Notes runbook; a Vault Notes reference can cite a Research Vault record.
Future direction
Structured templates per research domain are on the roadmap (biomedical, market, security, ethnographic). Until then, the typed-field schema is generic.
